Next Saturday, July 28, 2012, Fox BMW of Traverse City will host BMW Drive for Team USA, a consumer drive campaign that invites Americans to support the athletes of Team USA. For every person who test drives a vehicle at the event, BMW of North America will donate $10 to Team USA up to $200,000.

Fox V.O.I.C.E. Fundraiser Update

Our 'Support the Veterans' drive has finally built up some steam.  Flag donations are going well and the scrap drive has been a tremendous success.  Thanks to the hard work of Greg and Al along with their teams for keeping the scrap moving.  Greg has made an agreement with Padnos to keep the extra scrap dumpster out back so we can continue to fill it as scrap becomes available.

1991 Mercury Capri Convertible

Ron Davis owns a Ford of Australia produced Mazda Miata rival named the Ford/Mercury Capri which is ironically based around many Mazda 323 mechanics. Therefore, it is Front Wheel Drive as opposed to the Mazda Miata's Rear Wheel Drive. From the 1991 model year, this car was sold in North America as the Mercury Capri. The car was sold until the 1994 model year with minimal changes (1994 models did get a minor cosmetic update that included new front and rear bumpers as well as taillights). The matte finish is difficult to replicate and the tail is a coveted aftermarket accessory.
Despite mechanical issues with the Capri in the United States, the Australian version was a reliable vehicle. Many are still in use as "daily drivers" in Australia, with the only faults being reported relating to leaks in the roof. In the United States, the car was known to have had electrical problems (the heater core is located on the right side interior firewall above the main computer, so wrapping the electronics here with water tight plastic shielding is advised) as well as drivetrain problems related to cold and/or extreme weather operation.

Technician Award for Diagnosis Feedback. Tom provided important automotive diagnostic information in February that was selected by a committee comprised of BMW engineers and executives. Congratulations Tom!

Frankfurter Friday

What a perfect day for Frankfurter Friday.  The sun was shining, the grill was smoking, and it was the kick off to Summer.  The team at Fox Grand Traverse was pleasantly surprised to find the availability of chili for their franks.

Fox Motors will be officially kicking off the the Summer/Fall Fox Voice fundraising campaign this Friday to help Northern Michigan Veterans.  The campaign includes a paper flag sale for which we will be asking a minimum donation of one dollar and the goal is to cover our dealership red, white, and blue.

Zoo-de-Mackinac

Glenn Cousineau participated in last weekend's Zoo-de-Mac and managed to park a 

Fox Grand Traverse BMW X-5 with bike rack, roof rack, and Fox signage along the course.

BMW X-5

The Zoo-de-Mackinac is a collection of outdoor enthusiasts (3,500) who want to enjoy a little physical exercise together in one of the most beautiful areas in the state of Michigan. The bike ride starts Saturday morning at Boyne Highlands Resort and spans 51 miles along Lake Michigan on a paved road with very little automobile traffic. Riders pedal through rolling countryside and trillium covered forests, along sandy beaches, and are surrounded by breathtaking views of Lake Michigan from 400' high bluffs. We stop approximately half way, at a unique place called the Legs Inn for a leisurely lunch and to swap stories. The ride continues on to Mackinaw City, where Arnold Ferry boats have been chartered for the ride over to Mackinac Island. Once on the magical island, check into your hotel and stroll into town to forget the aches and pains from the day’s ride. As the evening wears on, the island comes alive with The Gatehouse, Pink Pony, and Horns hosting post ride parties with incredible live bands!
